Orbit keeps one library for five kinds of story: manga, manhwa, anime, K-drama and C-drama. Each title sits in one of five states, from Planning to Dropped, with progress counted in chapters or episodes. Signing in syncs the library through Neon Postgres, and a Chrome extension updates it from the page you are reading.

49calls a day to plan reminders, instead of one a minute

Screens

Orbit's search over the Up next page, listing a title in the library and results from MyAnimeList.
Search opens with ⌘K and looks through your library and MyAnimeList together.
A title's sheet with status buttons, a progress ruler and the next air date.
A title's sheet: status, a ruler to drag your progress along, and when the next episode airs.
The Out now row, with a button to log each new chapter or episode.
Out now: what has come out since you last read or watched, logged with one press.

How it works

  1. Search asks every source at once and answers within 700ms, ranked, interleaved and without duplicates. A source that keeps failing is rested for five minutes.
  2. MyAnimeList leads for manga, manhwa and anime, and TMDB for dramas. MyDramaList adds drama scores only.
  3. A Cloudflare Worker checks a schedule every minute but only wakes the app when a reminder is due, so the database can sleep in between.
  4. Reminders are as exact as the source allows: a set time for anime, a chosen hour for dramas, and none for manga, which has no release dates.
  5. Your progress and the catalogue's details merge separately, newest wins each half, so a refresh never undoes what you logged on another device.
